Joshua was a kid that had a very full life. His father was transferred to work in Honduras. His family was a wealthy family and in Honduras they had most things people could only dream of. He was rapidly admitted in the American School of Tegucigalpa since he was a role model for many students. Everything seemed to go well until he noticed something strange. Every afternoon he noticed a black car parked near his house. That car was not from the neighborhood because it was not there months ago when they first moved in. The old neighbors where there too. He did not give it any more importance until one normal afternoon; he got down from his bus and did not see the car anymore. As he was searching for it, to men in black clothes grabbed him by the back. He passed out of the fear and it was an easy task for the kidnappers. As he woke up, he realized he had lost his cell phone, his watch, and his wallet. He nervously asked where he was and his kidnappers told him to shut up or he will suffer the consequences. The first days his eyes were covered and they gave him only crumbs. Some days they would not give him anything. Joshua thought of the reasons why he was here. He wanted answers and asked God why. He also thought in his family and friends; thinking if they could bear the thought of him being dead or alive. The first week was over and he decided to talk to the kidnapper who gave him food that day. He asked him where he was and why he was there. The kidnapper just left. Joshua was sad and worried. As the days passed, he hoped someone would tell him; they paid for you or you are now safe. He had almost lost every thread of hope left in him, but he heard some noises one day. They were bringing in another child captive. He heard the screaming and realized it was a girl. But this girl was headstrong. Joshua thought that for being so stubborn she would get killed. He was too scared to talk to her, but she starting talking to him. These talks soothed both of them. They became close friends but Joshua still thought that she could get killed. She would not stop arguing with the kidnappers. He told her over and over again what he thought but she said that she better be dead than captive. The next day Joshua heard she was being taken out of the room. He then heard really loud screams coming from her. As he thought, death came to that exaggeratedly stubborn girl. But her screams alerted some people that were close by. As they murdered her, the people saw it and decided to call the police. The police had already a whole operative to rescue both of the captives. Joshua had lost all hope. He had won a new friend and lost her in the blink of an eye. Joshua had lost weight, had not seen in many days, had lost a friend, and had lost all hope. But as the time passed the police was getting closer to the place where Joshua was being held. At last, at the darkest point of night, the police came through the door. Joshua thought they were the kidnappers coming to end his days but then they took Joshua and freed him. As he met with his family and friends, there were rivers of tears coming from everyone. The relief to see Joshua alive was too much. Joshua now knew that he must be very careful every time he is not in school or in his house. He learned to value life as he knew how easy it was to lose it.
